About Us
The mission of the Enderlin Wellness Center is to create a place where members of the community can come to exercise, support each other, and learn about health and wellness. It was created by the community for the community--"Community-minded fitness."

How It Began

In late 2008, a group of motivated Enderlin area residents starting meeting to create a plan to open a fitness center for the community. The Enderlin Wellness Center Committee found the perfect location and contracted a local construction company. The lower level of the City Auditorium was transformed. Equipment needs were tested and evaluated, and the decisions on the equipment have been outstanding. Facility/Equipment

Area residents have a variety of workout options for cardio and strength training. The Enderlin Wellness Center is a non-profit organization incorporated under the HEART (Helping Area Residents Thrive) program. Last but not least, funding was generated and secured by the committee members through generous donations and grants. The goal was and is "Wellness." The result is the Enderlin Wellness Center.

How May You Help?

Contact the Enderlin Wellness Center to make your contribution. All contributions will go towards original capital investments as the membership fees go towards monthly operating expenses.

Whom May We Thank?

We thank committee members Tracy Ekeren, Richard Irish, Brad Turner, Maggie Peterson, Mark Olson, Sara Dixson, John Niedringhaus, Wendy Flatt, Maynard Torbenson, and Brett Klabo for their efforts.

Staff

Jill Baarstad, Manager

My name is Jill Baarstad and I have accepted the position of the Enderlin Wellness Center
manager.  My first day on the job was Monday, December 14, 2009.  I was
born and raised in the great community of Enderlin and currently live 12
miles west of Enderlin with my husband, Mike, and our two children Noah
(10) and Sydney (7).  I enjoy running (no, I'm not crazy, I seriously do
enjoy it:-)), playing volleyball, and spending time with family and
friends.

I am very excited about my new position and have lots of ideas for new
programs and deem the possibilities endless for the Enderlin Wellness
Center!  In the near future, I hope to get a Kids After School Program
developed and a pedometer race started for fun.  Any and all suggestions
for future programs and/or equipment is greatly appreciated.

Please feel free to either drop your suggestions in the white suggestions box by the
door, call me at the office at 437-2525 or after hours 799-2413, or send
me an email at ewc@mlgc.com.  The possibilities are endless!

My office hours are going to be Tuesday 10-7, Wednesday 10-4, and Thursday
10-4 and am always available by appointment if those office hours will not
work for you and you have a question and/or concern.

Vicki Busta, Assistant Manager and Jazzercise Instructor

Vicki is an area native. Her skills as a Jazzercise Instructor are a tremendous asset to the Enderlin Wellness Center community. She owned her own health club in Alaska where she taught elementary school for 30 years. We are glad that she is back in the area. You may catch a Jazzercise class on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays at 5:15 p.m . Jazzercise Lite (for seniors or those wanting a slower-paced class) is offered on Mondays and Thursdays at 11:45-12:30.

Vicki also has a tremendous knowledge of strength training, stretching, and overall cardiovascular health. Look for personal training class offerings starting soon for both members and non-members.

Leroy Dixson, Personal Trainer

Leroy coaches Enderlin Track and Field sports, is a junior high football coach, and runs his own strengthening and conditioning program for area athletes. An impressive athlete himself, Leroy has many track and field records at the National level for high school, and ran for the Iowa State Cyclones. He was a college All-American recognized for the 4x400 meter relay. Leroy's philosophy is to work out the muscles and then do a little bit more, gaining strength all along the way. To find out more about his program, call 701-437-3883!
